This article contains major spoilers for the final of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK.

It’s no exaggeration to say that the first series of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK has been a complete and utter triumph, and after eight weeks of near-perfect TV, the competition came at a sickening close as the final episode hit iPlayer on Thursday night.

Divina De Campo, Baga Chipz and The Vivienne went head-to-head in one final challenge in the hope of being crowned the UK’s first drag superstar – and while that was going on, viewers on Twitter were standing by with their own commentary, which had more sass and snark than the top three combined...

1. After the queens were set the challenge of writing a verse to To The Moon, it became apparent people had been mishearing the lyrics all series

When you thought the lyrics were ‘Do the Move’ not ‘To the Moon’ #dragraceuk pic.twitter.com/wSh56ghSbG

I’ve literally spent years thinking the lyrics were Toot the Boot so every day’s a school day. #DragRaceUK

2. There was something of an explanation about Baga’s relationship with her mum after last week’s uncomfortable scenes

I’m so pleased that they revisit Baga’s relationship with her mum. It was clear last episode that they weren’t close - she literally said she doesn’t really see her - so the pile-on afterwards was pretty harsh. Obligatory “Much Betta!” #dragraceuk pic.twitter.com/RkuVz3y5Pu

— Kat Brown (@katbrown) November 21, 2019

3. And she was then back on form with her one liners

"I'm gonna be like Ann Widdecombe when they threw her around the floor." GOTTA LOVE A 2010 STRICTLY REFERENCE FROM BAGA! #DragRaceuk

Just a reminder of what @ChipShopBird thinks she'll look like in this challenge. #DragRaceUK pic.twitter.com/pbZDxgWcGI

4. The appearance of AJ and Curtis Pritchard gave fans some Love Island flashbacks they’d rather have forgotten

just when i was starting to forget about curtis’s existence he rocks up on drag race and now i’m having war flashbacks #DragRaceUK pic.twitter.com/E0nNknE17V

5. One thing they hadn’t forgotten though was how he treated Amy in the villa

Me watching Curtis on #DragRaceUK pic.twitter.com/UfosoUVsn0

— Ry (@RJohnsonLeigh) November 21, 2019

6. This was a real missed opportunity

I'm waiting for Curtis, to tell them what lovely young ladies they are#DragRaceUK

7. AJ was also not the smiley pro we know and love from Strictly...

New respect for Saffron - watching AJ on #DragRaceUK and he is HARSH! #Strictly pic.twitter.com/VkRTRZCCeZ

— Lizzi Shaw (@Lizzi_Shaw) November 21, 2019

8... which certainly surprised The Vivienne

The Vivienne saying “AJ’s a feisty little thing” was the highlight of the whole series I’m screaming #DragRaceUK

9. Not least when she and Baga were then expected to master his complicated choreography

10. Baga summed it up the best

When you’re trying to describe the song you heard last night in the club to your mates the morning after... #DragRaceUK @dragraceukbbc @ChipShopBird pic.twitter.com/TSj0sCJM7S

11. Of course, Divina slayed the routine, but there was outrage she didn’t appear to be praised as much as they others

When Divina is upside down half of the performance but the judges say the Vivienne "sold it" more#DragRaceUK pic.twitter.com/FYrNhJIDk8

— Lαuren (@gandy_lauren) November 21, 2019

12. While the judges’ critiques of other aspects of her time on the show raised some eyebrows

michelle saying divina had questionable runway choices, BULLSHIT MICHELLE BULLSHIT
questionable runway choices? #DragRaceUK pic.twitter.com/pTDfq3wiQH

— Tin (@flawlessmorpher) November 21, 2019

13. When the queens were asked to pitch why they should win, there was proof the beef between Divina and The Vivienne was still alive and well

#TeamDavina's eyeroll when Viv was chatting shite about herself is just to die for #DragRaceUK pic.twitter.com/CWNRRRiEd0

— Dave Briggs 🥦☠️ (@xtaldave) November 21, 2019

14. And Divina’s humility and modesty (or lack thereof) did not go unnoticed

Am I now allowed to say that Alan Carr's line about expecting Divina to pull out a "PowerPoint display" made me absolutely howl? What a gift he has been. One of the many highlights of this series. #DragRaceUK

15. But there was subsequent outrage when she was not crowned the winner

when someone asks me what i thought of who won at work tomorrow #dragraceuk pic.twitter.com/K7keGrLdvN

— rishika (@rish_0) November 21, 2019

I'm sorry, Divina not being crowned winner tho #DragRaceUK pic.twitter.com/GckJdn1t2l

16. Still though, plenty of others were still very happy with the result

— Pete Burns’ Confiscated Coat (@harrisonjbrock) November 21, 2019

The disrespect and discredit towards the viviennes win right now is awful. She is a DESERVED winner, divina and the vivienne were both rightful winners #DragRaceUK pic.twitter.com/QWE7d9Mdlr

— Ted (@ted_main) November 21, 2019

17. While there was no Miss Congeniality this time around, there was no doubt who would have won it

We love a relatable queen. Real winner here #DragRaceUK pic.twitter.com/kWn1Ezd8IO

— Emma ☾ (@EmmaLucy94) November 22, 2019

18. And the countdown to series two is officially on already

Honestly I was getting tried of US Drag Race, but drag race UK is EXACTLY what I needed in my life! Pure British drag, weekly! Can't wait for series 2! #DragRaceUK

— Mark Rhodes (@markrhodes__) November 21, 2019

I felt nothing but pure joy while I was watching that final lip-sync. This series has been nothing short of an incredible triumph and my god did we NEED it. Roll on season 2. #DragRaceUK
