There was huge excitement when Geri Horner was announced as a guest judge on RuPaul’s Drag Race UK, but she left fans stunned with her more muted appearance on the most recent episode.
While the Spice Girl is known to us all as Ginger Spice, Geri seemingly left her outrageous persona at home as she joined regular judges RuPaul, Michelle Visage and Alan Carr on the panel.
Geri was a lot more easily shocked compared to her alter-ego and was left clutching her pearls at a lot of the things she saw on the audacious BBC Three show.
Ginger was not impressed as contestant Crystal produced sparks from her crotch and was visibly uncomfortable as Divina Di Campo made a dig at her former bandmate Victoria Beckham.
She also found some of the outfits the queens paraded on the runway distasteful, revealed she didn’t like to hear them swearing and was also left wincing at a number of the innuendos Drag Race is famed for.
Geri also heaped praise on Sum Ting Wong, who was being heavily criticised by the rest of the judges for her questionable efforts in the Snatch Game challenge and on the runway.
Fans were subsequently left questioning if Geri knew anything about drag or Drag Race at all, and also wondered what she’d done with Geri the Spice Girl...
Judge Alan Carr had previously admitted he was left stunned at how easily shocked Geri was when she appeared on the show.
He told The Sun: “Geri was outraged by everything. This is a woman who, at the Brits, came out of an inflatable vagina singing Bag It Up! And she was grabbing her pearls [at Drag Race]! I was shocked.”
He added: “I remember the Geri with the big old tits and Union Jack dress causing trouble – but she was like Maggie Smith in Downton Abbey! I was like, ‘Wake up, Geri!’”
Someone who made a much bigger impression with their guest appearance though was the actress who plays Lorraine Kelly.
Her participation in the Snatch Game – which sees the contestants have to impersonate a celebrity as they play what we know as Blankety Blank – had fans all making the same joke on Twitter.
RuPaul’s Drag Race UK is available to stream now on BBC iPlayer with new episodes dropping each Thursday at 8pm.
