This article contains major spoilers for the final of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK.
Fans of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK might have seen The Vivienne sashay away as the winner of the show, but we can reveal she was not the only one to be presented with the crown and sceptre.
That’s because more than one ending of the series was shot in order to stop the identity of the winning queen leaking before transmission.
The revelation was made by Michelle Visage at a special finale event on Thursday night, who told the audience of how footage had also been shot showing eventual runner-up Divina Di Campo triumphing.
With the series having been filmed back in the spring, the judges and contestants have seemingly been left in the dark for nearly six months over the outcome of the final.
Michelle and Alan Carr told fans they had “no idea” as to who the winning queen was, with The Vivienne later revealing she’d only found out she’d won the morning of the final airing.
“I woke up this morning and would have put money on Divina winning this,” she said at the finale event.
This is similar to how the final of the US version of Drag Race has played out in its early series, when multiple endings were also filmed.
However, the American final is filmed months after the rest of the series – just days before it is due to air – in front of a live audience.
As part of her prize, The Vivienne will now jet to Hollywood to film her own online series with the makers of Drag Race.
The whole series of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK is available to stream now on BBC iPlayer.
