Sajid Javid has said the government will deliver its first post-Brexit Budget on November 6.

In a signal that Boris Johnson is doubling down on his “do or die” commitment to pull the UK out of the EU on October 31, the chancellor said he would use the Budget to set out his plans “to shape the economy for the future” after Brexit.

In a statement, Javid said: “This will be the first Budget after leaving the EU. I will be setting out our plan to shape the economy for the future and triggering the start of our infrastructure revolution.

“This is the right and responsible thing to do – we must get on with governing.”

Parliament has already passed a law blocking a no-deal Brexit on October 31, with legislation demanding that Johnson must ask the EU for an extension.

However, the prime minister has been pursuing a new Brexit deal with the EU.
