Scottish Exam Results Day Prompts Social Media Storm

Scottish students are getting their results today.

Scottish students are receiving their National 4 and 5, Higher, Advanced Higher and Scottish Baccalaureate exam results today.

According to UCAS, a record number of 28,300 have gained university places - including 3,800 from the poorest areas of Scotland.

The swathes of people tweeting about the historic day led to #examresults trending on Twitter, which in turn gave few people in England and Wales a scare.

Students across the rest of the country will receive their marks next week.

Meanwhile, many Scots were still eagerly awaiting the news and they weren’t afraid to show it on social media.

At least the fine people of the internet were there to offer advice and condolences. Sort of...

Some words for those of you upset about your #examresults -

You fucked it. Life is over. There is nothing before you but endless turmoil.

For anyone getting their results today, Skills Development Scotland has set up a free helpline to offer advice, information and support for pupils and parents, which can be reached by calling 0808 100 8000.
