Scottish Libraries Have Been Having A Lengthy Twitter Spat

Having fun ain't hard when you have a library card.

Two libraries in Scotland have been having a lengthy war of wits on Twitter, and some of their takedowns are absolutely brutal.

Orkney Library and Shetland Library have each amassed quite a few extra followers since they started throwing shade on the social media site, as tweeters watch to see where the feud will go next.

Things took a turn in Orkney's favour when 'Harry Potter' author JK Rowling dropped by for a book group:

And now they're getting a bit cocky since they were verified on Twitter:

Do you like our blue tick @ShetlandLibrary? We know you already have blue ticks but ours isn't caught off sheep pic.twitter.com/QIt6WWzd0a

But Shetland fought back...

@OrkneyLibrary Assume this "blue tick" business is a bit like when @Debenhams have a sale, identifying what's knocked down & 'had its day'?

Some Twitter users have been taking sides...

@OrkneyLibrary @ShetlandLibrary A low blow, Orkney Library. Naebdy likes a smart arse

But at least the Shetland Library has one accolade they can always trot out:

@ShetlandLibrary @SoniaevansSonia 57 seconds before the #MostNortherly got wheeled out. That's a record!
