Seth Rogen has won praise after shutting down racism in the comments of an Instagram post he shared in support of the Black Lives Matter movement.
The actor showed his support for the cause on Monday, as protests against police brutality and deeply embedded racism continued to go on all over the US, following the tragic death of George Floyd last week.
“If this is a remotely controversial statement to you, feel free to unfollow me,” Seth wrote, alongside a Black Lives Matter graphic.
And it seems that a surprising number of his followers took issue with his message, and rather than following his wishes and simply unfollowing him, felt the need to let him know about in the comments.
“I think you meant to say All Lives Matter,” one wrote, while another added: “Wow Seth looks like racism.”
Standing by his original post, Seth has since been sharing a string of blunt responses, largely revolving around the words “fuck” and “off”.
In response to one Instagram follower who questioned “why do all these brutality videos only show the end? They don’t show wtf these people [were] doing to get in trouble in the first place?”, Seth replied: “Fuck off. You don’t deserve my movies anymore. Stop watching my shit.”
His no-nonsense replies have already won the actor a wave of praise:
Similarly, teen singer Billie Eilish made headlines with a statement on Instagram over the weekend, lambasting those who have co-opted the Black Lives Matter movement with an All Lives Matter message.
Pink later shared the same message on her social media, and has hit back at critics who took issue with her.
