It’s been a long week (can we have another bank holiday please?), so a hearty dose of animal-themed content is exactly what the doctor ordered.

Here’s what’s been happening in the animal kingdom of late.

1. Sloth Gets Helping Hand Across The Road

One sloth avoided death (or at the very least, injury) by getting a little help across the road from a helpful human. The man lifted the sloth under its arms and took it to a nearby tree, where the animal turned – ever so slowly – and *appeared* to wave.

3. Cat’s No Nonsense Approach To Parenting

Like most mothers, she hasn’t got time for her offspring’s dawdling. Unlike most mothers, she gives them a literal push.

4. Elderly Woman Adores Neighbour’s Cat

This is definitely a cat-heavy edition of Animals Of The Week (sorry, not sorry), but bear with. An artist from Nottingham tweeted that an elderly neighbour had taken a photograph of her cat, Chips, and gone to the trouble of having it developed. The neighbour put it through her letterbox with a note that read: “Your lovely cat. I always look for him. Jean.” N’aww.

An old lady took a photo of my cat Chips, went to the trouble of getting it developed and then put it in our letterbox this morning 😭😍 🐈 pic.twitter.com/JYkzU3W9Bn

5. Kittens Survive 400-Mile Trip As Stowaways

Five kittens that stowed away on a 400-mile trip to San Diego are looking for new homes. The city’s Humane Society said the kittens ended up inside a 60ft steel column that travelled on a truck from San Francisco Bay to San Diego.

The kitties have since been given construction-themed names: Crowbar, Rebar, Chisel, Jackhammer and Piper. They’re in foster care and will be ready for adoption in a couple of months – sadly, only in the US. Sob.
