Mel B has told Spice Girls fans she hopes the sound “will be much better” for the rest of the groups’ stadium tour after some fans walked out of the first gig in Dublin.

Mel, along with bandmates Emma Bunton, Geri Horner and Mal C kicked off the 13-date tour in front of 75,000 people at Croke Park on Friday night.

But many fans took to social media during and after the gig complaining about the sound quality, with some even leaving midway through the gig.

Use what you like because the sound was terrible. €140 for tickets. Talking to loads of people leaving early disappointed. Not with the girls, just he sound.

The #spicegirls put on a fabulous show tonight. But am really surprised that nobody seems to be talking about how poor the sound was. Could hardly make out the words they were saying at times. Was worst sound I’ve ever heard at a concert pic.twitter.com/UnKsi3B4Wo

The sound last night at @spicegirls #SpiceWorld2019 was terrible, had no idea what they were saying and could barely hear what they were singing. And yes I went to the Spice Girls 😂 (my 9 year old self was a diehard fan) pic.twitter.com/GgwqYbY4eU

Sorry @spicegirls but we cannot hear a thing sitting here in @CrokePark - sound is AWFUL!!!! pic.twitter.com/XD28tbidCX

There’s something wrong when the crowd at @spicegirls concert are all sitting down because no one has a clue what song is on because the sound really is THAT bad. @mcd_productions @CrokePark @IrishTimes @LovinDublin #SpiceWorldTour #SpiceGirl pic.twitter.com/QkENc7BJ8Y

@spicegirls currently sitting in croke park, was absolutely buzzing to see you lot but its very disappointing cos the sound is really bad! We cant hear a thing sitting up the top row, up the back, all we're getting is mumble, and for €110 a ticket, not good!

Too bad you can’t hear a thing. The sound is awful. Was perfect for Jess Glynn & is horrific now. Loads of people leaving.

Addressing the sound issues in an Instagram story, Mel B said: “We will see you in Cardiff. And hopefully the vocals and the sound will be much, much better, pfft.”

HuffPost UK have contacted band’s reps for comment.

The Dublin gig marked the first time the band had performed together since the 2012 London Games opening ceremony.

After emerging from beneath the huge stage, they opened the show with their number 1 hit Spice Up Your Life.

Backed by a huge production, the message of unity, togetherness and love was clear from the off.

“Welcome to Spice World,” Geri told the crowd. “Spice girls, spice boys, everyone is welcome. We want every single one of you to feel special tonight. Like a king or a queen, we celebrate you. But I got to say there are a lot of queens here tonight.”

The 23-song setlist featured all nine of the group’s number 1 singles, as well as a few surprises.

Scary, Baby, Ginger and Sporty had six costume changes each - and there were nods to some of their most famous looks, including Geri’s iconic Union Jack dress.

The group are performing another 12 sold-out stadium shows across the UK over the coming weeks, culminating in three sold-out nights at London’s Wembley Stadium next month.
