The Spring Lipstick Shades We Can't Wait To Try

From light to bold, there's something to tickle your fancy.

The change of season is as good an excuse as any to get a new lipstick ( as if you needed any excuse). Lipstick is a great way to celebrate the arrival of a season that promises us outings in floral print. Besides, the fresh colours in our wardrobes may call for lip makeup to match.

So, whether you’re one for muted tones or prefer to go into spring with a bang, we’ve taken a look at some fetching light, bright, bold and evergreen hues to indulge in this season.

Light

If you’re caught up by the subtlety of lip balms and tints, then a light lipstick shade could be just the thing you’re looking for. Hues that are close to your skin tone work well (‘nudes’) or if you want a hint of colour, very sheer pinks offer a fresh alternative, like this Lip Glow from Dior, £25.

Kiko Milano has some great options for soft, nude-y lipsticks and glosses. This Gossamer Emotion Creamy lipstick is £6.90.

Bright

Bright hues this season lean towards the more natural end of the spectrum, dwelling around pinks and corals. These tend to be bolder versions of the ‘light’ shades that are so popular for daywear. Try Chantecaille’s Lip Chic in Foxglove, available for £32.

Rimmel London’s classic collection is perfect for charmingly bright lip makeup. The Moisture Renew lipstick, £6.49, in ‘Rose Records’ will go down a treat.

Bold

Despite their intimidating reputation for being difficult to pull off, bold colours can be surprisingly universal. It’s just about choosing a hue that works well with your skin tone. Try some clear gloss over Fenty Beauty’s Mattemoiselle, £16, for a real pop of colour.

NYX cosmetics has some great lip products to try this daring look. Their Epic Ink Lip Dye in ‘Obsessed’, £6, is glorious - although not for the faint of heart.

Evergreen

Nothing beats the look of a classic red lip, regardless of outfit, mood or occasion. Technically, the look can be worn year-round so now is always the ideal time to try it for first-timers. For a luxury look and feel, try Pat McGrath’s Matte Trance lipstick in ‘Vendetta’ (it’s just over £27).
