Actress and model Stefanie Sherk has died at the age of 37, her husband has confirmed.
Stefanie – the wife of Academy Award nominee Demián Bichir – died “peacefully” at the couple’s home over the weekend, as revealed in an emotional Instagram post.
Demián wrote: “On behalf of the Sherk and the Bichir Nájera families, it is with inconceivable pain that I announce that on April 20, 2019, our dearest Stefanie Sherk, my beloved and loving wife, passed away peacefully.
“It has been the saddest and toughest time of our lives and we don’t know how much time it will take for us to overcome this pain.”
He continued: “Stefanie’s beautiful, angelical and talented presence will be immensely missed. We will hold Stefanie in our hearts forever.
“We thank everybody beforehand for their prayers and we respectfully ask for your understanding so we may grieve in peace and privacy in these incredibly difficult times. It is our sincerest hope that our beautiful Stefanie, my angel and love of my life, will rest in eternal peace.”
No cause of death was given in Demián’s statement, which he also posted in Spanish.
During her acting career, Stefanie appeared in minor roles in films like Valentine’s Day and Star Power, as well as the web series #Hashtag: The Series.
In 2016, she starred opposite her husband in the romantic drama Un Cuento De Circo & A Love Song, the Spanish/English romantic drama which marked his directorial debut.
She also wrote the short films Big Date and The Sister.
Stefanie – who was the stepmother to Demián’s daughter Gala – tied the knot with her husband in 2011.
