Horror writer Stephen King was once again forced to distance himself from his Republican lawmaker namesake, the racist Rep. Steve King of Iowa.

On Wednesday, he tweeted:

Let's get 1 thing straight. I'm not THAT Steve King.

— Stephen King (@StephenKing) August 15, 2019

The politician King, who has in the past expressed white supremacist views, this week faced yet more calls to resign after making comments about generations of people not being alive were it not for rape and incest.

This name issue is not a new problem for King the writer. In November 2018, he tweeted:

Iowans, for personal reasons I hope you’ll vote Steve King out. I’m tired of being confused with this racist dumbbell.

The bestselling author’s latest disclaimer immediately went viral:

Somehow the other one is more horrifying!!! https://t.co/yCAkrKQN6N

You are a national treasure, he is a national disgrace.

One Steve King is deeply messed up and scares the crap out of me. The other is America's most prolific horror and fantasy novelist. https://t.co/BkE3Nyf6yv

No offense, but he's scarier because he's not fiction.

One Steve King says stuff so creepy you can't believe a person even imagined it, and the other one writes books.

You write horror. He is horror.

You’d never cook up anything that sick and twisted.
