Brendan Cole has set the record straight over a rumoured behind-the-scenes feud with fellow ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ pro Anton Du Beke.
When it was first announced that Len Goodman was stepping down as Head Judge on the ‘Strictly’ panel earlier this year, reports surfaced suggesting that both Brendan and Anton had their eye on the job… and that it was even affecting their relationship.
However, Brendan has now denied this, insisting that he and Anton are as good friends as ever.
Speaking to Digital Spy, he says: “I don’t want to break his leg. That will give him a shoe-in!
In the past few weeks, there has been a deluge of reports about who could be replacing Len as Head Judge on ‘Strictly’, with the man himself saying he hopes it goes to someone with a history of performing ballroom dance.
Current judge Craig Revel Horwood - who has also been tipped for the Head Judge role - has said that he wants the BBC to get someone new for the job, adding: “You have to remember that we were all unknown when we came on to the show and created our characters.
“With someone brand new you would get a whole new opinion and a whole new person to either love or hate. You sort of know what you’re going to get with Anton and Brendan.”
