Craig Revel Horwood doesn’t appear to have much sympathy for ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ contestant Greg Rutherford, amid reports that the Olympian was upset by his critiques in the most recent live shows.
Following their Halloween week performance, Greg and Natalie Lowe’s routine received a lukewarm response from the judges, with Craig offering just four points, as he didn’t feel it contained enough traditional Rumba moves.
Reports have since claimed that Greg kicked off backstage later that evening, which Craig has now had his say on.
Speaking to Digital Spy, the judge admitted: “I didn’t see it, I heard about it. If it was anything I said about his dancing then that’s really a bit silly because it’s me making a comment and you should never take anything personally.
When the interviewer then pointed out Greg admitted he’d shed tears backstage, Craig remarked: “Squish, squish. My heart’s bleeding.”
Greg previously laughed off reports that he’d threatened to quit ‘Strictly’ over his critiques, telling ‘BBC Breakfast’ on Wednesday (2 November): “There might have been a tear or two from the pair of us but that’s as far as it went. It completely takes over your life and when you get really into it you really want to do well.
“We really wanted to do well at the weekend and sadly it wasn’t for everybody, especially for one judge in particular.”
Greg and Natalie will be back on the ‘Strictly’ dance floor on Saturday night (5 November), when hopefully the judges will be in a slightly more generous mood.
