Ashley Roberts and Faye Tozer had plenty to celebrate after both scoring 39 points and topping the ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ leaderboard on Saturday night’s show.
The former Pussycat Dolls star and Steps singer wowed everyone - including all four judges - with their jaw-dropping routines, which earned them the highest scores of the series.
Ashley and her dance partner Pasha Kovale’s Charleston to ‘Witch Doctor’ by Don Lang earned them a standing ovation from the audience and judges Darcey Bussell, Shirley Ballas and Bruno Tonioli (but not Craig).
Bruno said their routine was “astonishing” and “action packed” and “one of the best Strictly moments of the season”, while Shirley said it was “one of the best choreography routines I have ever seen”.
Dancing in suits and glittering oversized bow ties, Faye Tozer and her professional partner Giovanni Pernice performed a couples’ choice routine to ‘Fever’ by Peggy Lee in the style of theatre and jazz.
During the routine, Tozer leapt from the judge’s desk into the arms of her partner. Craig simply said: “Amazing.”
Darcey added there was “so much I loved about it”, highlighting how the couple mirrored one another and calling it an “absolutely brilliant and stunning performance”.
Stacey Dooley and Kevin Clifton also impressed with a tango to the Doctor Who theme tune. The couple scored a cumulative total of 35 points out of a possible 40, the pair’s highest score so far in the series.
But it wasn’t such a great night for This Morning’s Dr Ranj Singh and his partner Janette Manrara or Seann Walsh and Katya Jones.
Dr Ranj jived to the Halloween favourite ‘The Monster Mash’ dressed as a multi-coloured furry monster.
But it failed to impress the judges, with Craig describing it as “heavy” and “stompy” and the couple wound up at the bottom of the leaderboard with 20 points out of a possible 40.
And Seann’s decidedly non-romantic Halloween Viennese waltz to ‘I Put A Spell On You’ failed to bewitch the judges, who scored it just 20 points, with Craig adding he believed Seann “would end up in the dance off again.
