His infamous pool fall on BBC Breakfast has followed him since last year, and Mike Bushell is expecting things to be no different during his stint on Strictly Come Dancing.

The BBC Breakfast sports reporter has told of how he is anticipating a whole routine to be based around his hilarious gaffe.

Asked if he was hoping to avoid a similar situation on Strictly, he told HuffPost UK and other journalists at the show’s press launch: “I’ve already been told by the bosses not to stand too close to the edge of the stage, because I do like to get into things, but [the pool incident] was to do with a live broadcast and the location changing last minute.

“But yes, the pool has actually followed me, it’ll be interesting to see if there will be a dance which involves a pool.”

However, Mike is not the only star who is fearing an accident when the celebrities take to the floor for the first time.

Former Coronation Street actress Catherine Tyldesley was left worried during the first full rehearsal for Saturday night’s group dance, explaining: “There’s a million things that could go wrong. When I was stood in the group dance then, I said, ‘I’m really close to the pit, has anyone ever fell in?’ The pros said it was fine, but I was like, ‘ahhh!’ I could be the first person to fall into the pit!’ I can see it.”

While Mike and Catherine both hopefully avoid disaster on the opening show, one person who sadly didn’t was Jamie Laing.

The Made In Chelsea star has been forced to withdraw from the competition after injuring his foot while filming the group dance during the pre-recorded launch last week.

Strictly Come Dancing launches on Saturday at 7.10pm on BBC One.
