Anneka Rice has become the second celebrity to be voted off this year’s Strictly Come Dancing.

The TV presenter found herself in the dance-off on Sunday night’s results show alongside former footballer David James.

Anneka and partner Kevin Clifton’s Charleston to Woo Hoo from the film Kill Bill had won just 11 points from the judges during the Movie Week special on Saturday night, placing her at the bottom of the leaderboard.

David’s American Smooth to Kiss From A Rose from the film Batman Forever with partner Nadiya Bychkova hadn’t fared much better with 16 points.

After the judges scores were combined with the public vote, the pair landed in the bottom two and had to perform again.

Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse and Bruno Tonioli all voted to keep David and Nadiya in the competition, sending Anneka and Kevin home.

Head Judge Shirley Ballas also said she would have agreed with the other judges’ verdict.

When the result was revealed, Anneka told host Tess Daly: “To be honest, I’d have saved David and Nadiya.

“I’ve just loved this whole thing; I’ve not one negative about the whole experience. We’ve worked really hard, I’m covered in bruises.”

Turning to Kevin, she continued: “I love this man; it’s been a joy to have that honour, that privilege of learning to dance. Now I’ve got 11 and a half (dance) moves!

“My son is getting married next year, I’m determined to be able to shuffle onto the dance floor and not do my usual thing of handing out the canapes.”

Kevin was asked if he had any words for Anneka, and said: “You’ve put in so much commitment and so much effort. We worked about four hours on one step on that Charleston and you delivered that waltz last week… then to come out and deliver that Charleston - the improvement you’ve made, I’m so proud of you, it’s been an absolute joy.”

The remaining 13 couples will take to the floor once again next week when Strictly Come Dancing continues on Saturday at 6.40pm on BBC One.
