Taylor Swift's 'Delicate' Music Video Accused Of Copying Kenzo World Ad

🤔

Taylor Swift has come under fire over her latest music video, with some commenting that it bears a striking resemblance to a Spike Jonze-directed perfume advert.

Earlier this week, Taylor unveiled the music video for ‘Delicate’, the latest cut to be taken from her ‘Reputation’ album.

The four-minute clip sees a frustrated Taylor growing bored of being recognised, and suddenly being afforded the opportunity to do whatever she wants when she realises she’s become invisible.

Newly-invisible, Taylor is seen throwing some shapes in a fancy hotel, running around in the pouring rain and pulling faces in a bathroom mirror.

However, while Taylor’s fans were excited to see a new side to her in the ‘Delicate’ video, other viewers have suggested she and director Joseph Kahn may have copied a Spike Jonze campaign for Kenzo World.

In this advert, actress Margaret Qualley is seen attending a formal event, before wandering off on her own, pulling some strange faces in a luxury hotel corridor and showing off some enthusiastic choreography of her own.

Twitter users were quick to point out the similarities between the two clips, and they were not impressed:

taylor swift's "delicate" video is a poor man's version of spike jonze's ad for Kenzo, this bop deserved more pic.twitter.com/39Ub99bKqc

Taylor Swift's "Delicate" video is weirdly similar to the Spike Jonze KENZO World commercial 🤔

Can we drop the “inspired by”... it’s simply laziness turned into plagiarism. @taylorswift13 girl, this one’s on you. You make way too much $ not to be able to employ folks to help come up with NEW ideas. via @mic https://t.co/YUMl58N3o3

When I see articles saying that Taylor Swift has copied Spike Jonze’s Kenzo ad and Ryan Heffington’s moves in her new video.👇
I don’t care about the ‘copying is the best form of flattery’ thing, that’s total crap. Have your own ideas or don’t make music videos at all. #notcool pic.twitter.com/DToS1Ksmma

do you think taylor swift saw the KENZO World ad and just told her producer “I want a less cool version of that?”

Not only did Taylor swift rip off a kenzo commercial for her new music video but she did so while looking like a giraffe that can’t dance 🤦🏼♀️

In all seriousness, did Taylor and Joseph think we wouldn’t notice the complete ripoff of margaret qualley’s Kenzo ad, or pic.twitter.com/2Rptz2Zr6O

HuffPost UK has reached out to representatives for Taylor Swift and Joseph Kahn, and is awaiting a response.

Check out both clips below to judge for yourself:

‘Reputation’ hit the number one spot on both sides of the Atlantic upon its release at the end of last year, with lead single ‘Look What You Made Me Do’ also securing Taylor her first UK number one.

The singer is currently gearing up for a world tour to support the album, which kicks off in Arizona in May, before arriving in the UK a month later.
