The thought of watching The Graham Norton Show without Graham Norton is an odd one, but its also one that became a reality on Friday night.
However, those concerned the chat show would not be the same without the Irish comic’s infinite wit should not have worried, as bosses had found the perfect replacement in the shape of Jack Whitehall.
The star was met with a big thumbs up from viewers as he took the helm of this week’s episode, as Graham prepared for his annual Eurovision duties in Israel.
It was the first time in 20 years that Graham has missed an episode of his own show, but viewers were impressed as Jack chatted to Game of Thrones star Gwendoline Christie, actor Luke Evans, footballer Peter Crouch, Britain’s Got Talent judge David Walliams and singer Sam Fender.
The episode also saw Jack confronted by a woman in the Big Red Chair who he’d previously instructed Graham to pull the lever on.
“I was here eight years ago, and I told a story that I thought was really good about when I was living in France and something happened with my daughter,” the lady explained as she sat in the chair.
“However, a certain guest on the sofa that night really didn’t like my story! And he was rather rude!”
Jack soon realised he was the person in question and apologised, before soon sending her tipping back in the chair once again.
Graham will be back at the helm of next week's show, which airs on Friday at 10.35pm on BBC One.
