ITV has spoken out to dismiss reports surrounding a supposed tense moment between This Morning hosts Phillip Schofield and Eamonn Holmes on the NTAs red carpet.

On Wednesday night, The Sun published a story suggesting that as the This Morning team posed together after their awards win, a “furious” Eamonn was seen “yanking” the award out of Phillip’s hand so that Ruth Langsford could have a turn holding it in a group shot.

However, a rep for the ITV daytime show has now insisted that the piece – headlined “I’ll Phil You In… Furious Eamonn Holmes yanked This Morning’s NTA out of Phillip Schofield’s hand for his wife Ruth in backstage row” – is “completely untrue”.

They told HuffPost UK: “All of the This Morning presenting team were in good spirits, visibly chatting together in their seats before and during the awards, and all celebrating afterwards.”

A spokesperson for Eamonn also denied that there were “issues” between the two hosts.

This latest rumour is the latest in a long line of reports about supposed tension behind the scenes of This Morning, which ITV has repeatedly refuted.

Last month, the show’s editor was forced to speak out over claims that Holly Willoughby had privately fallen out with her co-host.

He said: “We have the smartest viewers watching telly and believe me they would be the first to notice any issues — they haven’t because there are none.”

Rumours have also suggested that Ruth Langsford had filed a formal complaint about Phillip’s conduct, which neither of them has addressed, despite HuffPost UK contacting the former’s representatives for comment.
