Thousands Stranded After Collapse Of Thomas Cook

One of Britain’s oldest companies ceased to trade overnight after negotiations to save it failed. The collapse of tour operator Thomas Cook is leaving 600,000 holidaymakers around the globe stranded, of which 150,000 are British. An operation by the Civil Aviation Authority to repatriate British holidaymakers is expected to take two weeks. The company, which was founded in 1841, was £1.7 billion in debt.
