Turbans have become my saving grace on bad hair days and just about any day I can't muster enough energy to deal with my hair. So when our senior style editor Ellie wanted to learn how to tie a head scarf à la Kourtney Kardashian and Eva Mendes, I knew that I could teach her a thing or two.
Whether you have long, short or curly hair, the styling possibilities of head scarves are limitless. And you don't need a fancy handkerchief, as a neck scarf works just fine. Here are three fabulous ways to wear a scarf on your head.
Twisted Head Scarf
Step 1: Fold a satin scarf into half and place behind your head.
Step 2: Wrap the scarf around the front of your head and tie into a knot.
Step 3: Tuck in the ends of the scarf and adjust so that it fits right at your hairline.
Step 1: Wrap a fringe scarf around the front of your head and secure at your nape.
Step 2: Twist both ends of the scarf towards the front and tie into a knot.
Step 3: Hide the fringe ends of the scarf by wrapping them around the band.
Top Knot Head Scarf
Step 1: Fold a scarf around the back of your head and tie into a knot at the front.
Step 2: Twist both ends of the scarf around until it forms into one large string.
Step 3: Loop the fabric around the center into a large top knot and tuck in the ends.
