Tim Brown, the CEO and president of IDEO, a global design consultancy, joined HuffPost Live in Davos Friday to talk about the power of design in combating some of the world's biggest problems.
"Whenever we do something to improve the state of the world, we're designing," he said. "Design is everywhere, inevitably everyone is a designer."
Some of the world's greatest problems are so complex, however, that solving them will require collaboration from designers the world over, according to Brown.
"Things like income inequality, poverty, health issues that are all over the world, education, unemployment -- these are all things that don't get solved by just a few brilliant minds, they'll take thousands of innovations," he said.
But the resources and the desire to create those innovations are there, Brown said. It's just a matter of tapping into the pool.
"I think there's a huge desire among people all over the world, particularly young people, to create things," he said. "I'd love to have them creating things that make a difference. If we get them involved in design, get them involved in some of these issues that we have then, we're all going to benefit."
