Donald Trump’s critics are putting him on blast after the former president hinted that he may pull out of the scheduled Sept. 10 debate against Vice President Kamala Harris.
Trump late Sunday night fired off a rant aimed at debate host ABC on his Truth Social website, calling the network “FAKE NEWS” and attacking some of its personalities by name.
“Where is Liddle’ George Slopadopolus hanging out now?” he wrote, presumably referring to George Stephanopoulos, host of “This Week” and co-host of “Good Morning America.”
Stephanopoulos is not one of the moderators of the debate.
He also complained that ABC has a “so-called Panel of Trump Haters.”
“Why would I do the Debate against Kamala Harris on that network?” he wrote. “Stay tuned!!!”
The debate was initially set to be between him and President Joe Biden. Since Biden quit the race and Harris took over the ticket, Trump has wavered on the debate.
CNN’s Kaitlan Collins told Bill Maher on Friday that Trump was looking for an out, saying, “he really does not want to do it” and calling whether it happens “an open question.”
