Fox News has been criticised after carrying out an interview with the attorney for adult film star Stormy Daniels, in which it labelled him a “Creepy Porn Lawyer”.
Tucker Carlson, one of the network’s most vocal supporters of Donald Trump, began the segment by saying he would not use the derogative term to describe Michael Avanetti despite it being emblazoned across the bottom of the screen.
Daniels, Avanetti’s client, claims she had a sexual encounter with Trump in 2006 and was threatened to keep it under wraps.
She recently launched a defamation lawsuit against the President, who appeared to admit in an interview last month that he paid her to keep quiet.
Speaking of the issue, Carlson and Avanetti engaged in a heated back and forth about stripping, Trump and whether or not the Fox News host watches porn.
Referring to his unwanted nickname, Avanetti said: “Why don’t you show some respect to my client and me and stop calling us a ‘porn star’ and a ‘Creepy Porn Lawyer’.
“Do you have that bigger problem with porn? When was the last time you watched porn?”
“Oh, you busted me,” Carlson replied. “Actually, maybe humiliation porn. That’s why I watch you on CNN.”
Avanetti asked of Carlson’s apparent reluctance to criticise President Trump: “Why is it that you don’t call Donald Trump the ‘Creepy Porn President’?
“He’s the one who had sex with a four-month-old son at home, with my client, without a condom. But you don’t want to acknowledge that.
“Do you believe he had sex with my client?”
Carlson replied: “Yes I do. I’ve said that on the air multiple times.”
Avanetti then asked: “How do you have a show and you’re this ignorant?”
“How is that possible?”
The lawyer later branded the interview “a disgrace” and “complete garbage”.
The segment even spawned its own hastag.
