As a child actor, Tyler Posey starred as Jennifer Lopez’s adorable 11-year-old son Ty Ventura in the 2002 romantic comedy "Maid in Manhattan." 10 years later, the half-Mexican actor and musician is all grown up (and fit!), and has a starring role in "Teen Wolf," MTV's dark re-imagining of the Michael J. Fox 1985 cult-movie.
In the hit series, which returns for a second season tonight at 11/10c following the MTV Movie Awards, Posey plays Scott McCall, a shy high school student whose life is turned upside down when he’s mysteriously attacked by a wolf in the middle of the night. Days later he finds that the wolf bite has miraculously granted him powers and strange abilities that improve his performance on the lacrosse team and get him a date with the gorgeous new girl at school. Of course, his new powers come with a price.
In the role, which landed him a nomination for Choice Summer Actor at last year's Teen Choice Awards, Posey is the perfect blend of sweetness (as Scott) and fearlessness (as the wolf).
Last year, Posey -- who's full name is Tyler Garcia Posey -- told Latina Magazine what it means to him, as a Latino, to play the lead role in the hit series. “I remember when I was a lot younger my mom would tell me that the projects I would be working on at the time were a way of giving back to the Latino community," says the former child actor. "I didn't really understand what she meant at the time but now it makes sense. Being Latin myself, I know how passionate we are about EVERYTHING that has to do with being Latino, which will be a great success for me and 'Teen Wolf' knowing that I will always be supported by MY PEOPLE! The Latinos!”
"Teen Wolf" premieres tonight at 11/10c on MTV.
