The number of people who have died in the UK after testing positive for coronavirus has risen to 42,647 – an increase of 15 over 24 hours.
It is the lowest number since March 15.
The government’s daily announcement include people who have died in hospitals, care homes and the community.
But only those who had tested positive for Covid-19 are included, meaning anyone who died with a suspected case won’t be recorded.
The figures cover the period up to 5pm on Sunday.
Confusingly, NHS England reported earlier that 20 people had died in the same 24-hour period in England alone. This figure is likely to prove more accurate as the devolved nations spend slightly longer verifying their data than the DHSC. Scotland and Northern Ireland reported no deaths.
Meanwhile, as of 9am on Monday, 8,029,757 tests for coronavirus have been carried out, with 305,289 coming back positive. The government continues to withhold daily data for the number of people tested, but 139,659 tests were completed, yielding 958 positives – the first time the figure has dropped below 1,000 since the peak.
