UK Heatwave Sees Police Issue Warning After Woman Snapped Sunbathing During Traffic Gridlock

Police had to issue a warning.

It’s well known that we Brits often lose our heads a little when the sun comes out.

But police were forced to issue a rather unusual warning about sunbathing after one woman was caught catching a few rays in the middle of a motorway traffic jam caused by an accident.

Traffic on the M3 was brought to a standstill on Tuesday after a four-car pileup, The Portsmouth News reported.

So one motorist decided to use the delay to lay down a towel and get a bit of vitamin D.

It is not known how much of a tan she managed to get - but horrified traffic police tweeted a warning to anyone else thinking about trying such a stunt.

Please don't do this. Motorcycles could be filtering and traffic could move at any time. This is v dangerous#inspS https://t.co/uyd7fRVeGE

Five people were injured in the M3 pile-up.

All southbound lanes of the motorway were shut between junctions eight and nine.

Tuesday saw Britain swelter in temperatures which peaked at 33.5C (92.3F) in Brize Norton, making it hotter than Barcelona.
