UN Envoy Condemns Poverty Inflicted On Austerity-Era Britain

After 12 days speaking to people affected by poverty across the UK, Professor Philip Alston, a UN special rapporteur on poverty & human rights, gave a news conference about his findings. What followed was a damning indictment of austerity-era Britain in which he said he found the welfare system to be failing people who needed it most.
