A woman has been hospitalised after a major blaze at a shopping centre in Walthamstow, north London.
Emergency services, including around 125 firefighters, were called to The Mall on Selborne Walk at 0740 BST on Monday morning.
Images and videos posted to social media show flames and smoke rising about the building, which houses shops and restaurants.
Some 20 fire engines were called to the incident, according to the London Fire Brigade.
Station Manager Steve Smith, who is at the scene, said: “There is a lot of smoke so we would advise local residents to keep their doors and windows closed while crews tackle the fire.
“There are local road closures in place so motorists should avoid the area where possible.”
The Metropolitan Police said officers were called to the scene at 7.50am, adding that “no injuries have been reported”.
The London Ambulance Service said one woman had been taken to hospital.
Labour MP for Walthamstow Stella Creasy said on Twitter that she had been informed that the shadow chancellor, John McDonnell, was due to appear at an event in the constituency, but that the fire had disrupted travel.
“I don’t know where or what it is as not invited myself but you might want to be aware there’s a major fire here affecting travel options,” she wrote.
