A parliamentary debate got very, very heated.

Ugandan MPs got into violent fist fights on Wednesday afternoon while debating presidential age limits -- a move that would grant long-serving President Yoweri Museveni another term in office. There were claims that one MP even brought a gun into the house of parliament.

The video showing how ministers attacked each other with chairs went viral on Tuesday night.

Museveni has been in power for more than three decades. His proposal to raise the presidential age limit above the age of 75 has faced major opposition from activists, the opposition, religious leaders and even some members of Museveni's governing party in Parliament yesterday.

"Please take your seats... Let us speak with our words, not with our fists," Speaker Rebecca Kadaga pleaded as the fights broke out.

Protests by students, activists and the opposition have seen arrests around Uganda this week, with Uganda's leading opposition figure, Kizza Besigye, also being arrested.

No resolution about the proposed age limit has yet been made.
