I've been asked a few times recently, what do I do if I don't know what I'm supposed to be doing with my life? I don't know what my purpose is.
This can feel so overwhelming and frustrating because it makes you feel like you're wasting your life; coasting through with no idea why you're on the planet. A lack of purpose in life is a really common cause for depression.
I'm going to give you a really simple answer hear, but the trick is not to overthink it:
Make your spiritual and personal growth your purpose.
When we focus on creating some sort of spiritual (or personal) practice, like taking time to meditate every day, taking time to get outside and breath in some fresh air every day, taking some time to be on your own and be quiet, journal, create and just BE, we learn the magical art of enjoying the moment.
When we enjoy the moment, we get into a lovely flow state, where we feel more relaxed, more creative, more at peace, more inspired, more motivated, more driven....in short, until we're looking after ourselves and giving our brains a chance to 'be' and enjoy the moment, there's no way we're going to be able to pick and decide on a life purpose.
A life purpose is your reason for being. It's often far bigger than simply a career or a certain lifestyle. It's your big WHY, and that is only freed up and allowed to float into your conscious awareness when you're calm and in tune with yourself enough to listen....and when you give yourself time to listen to your heart's desires.
Ultimately, if you could feel totally happy and at peace now, no matter what your circumstances, why would you need to have everything else all figured out? Isn't being happy the ultimate goal?
Make your spiritual practice your purpose, and you will be guided by your intuition to whatever it is you were meant to do in life, in the perfect timing for you.
