If you needed evidence that the competition is seriously close in ‘Strictly Come Dancing’, then Sunday’s (11 December) results show provided it, when favourite Danny Mac found himself in the bottom two for the first time.
The former ‘Hollyoaks’ star was second on the leaderboard after Saturday’s (11 December) show, but failed to win enough votes from viewers at home and performed again, along with Claudia Fragapane.
It was good news for Danny following the dance-off though, when all four judges voted to save him and his partner Oti Mabuse.
“Well both couples I have to say in that dance-off were worth 10’s equally so it is so difficult, but I would really like to save Danny and Oti,” Craig Revel Horwood said, with Darcey Bussell adding: “Both performed to such an outstanding level tonight and it makes it very hard to choose between but the couple that had a small edge over the other were Danny and Oti.”
“Well first I would like to congratulate you because you were both excellent but I have to go with the couple that had an edge in artistry and emotional impact and for that reason I choose Danny and Oti,” Bruno Tonioli said, before Head Judge Len Goodman admitted that he agreed with his fellow judges.
Before leaving the show for good, Claudia shared her joy at taking part, telling Tess Daly: “I can’t believe I made it this far to be honest.
“Everyone is so lovely and I’m just so happy that I’ve made it this far and everyone has just been incredible people, and to come out and not be as confident as I was, I feel like a different person now, all thanks to this show.”
‘Strictly Come Dancing’ continues with the live final, at 6.40pm on Saturday 17 December.
