Pregnant Mum Who Couldn't Find A Babysitter Strapped Toddler To Her Back And Went To Work

'What a mum will do for her kids sometimes staggers the mind.'

A pregnant mother who is a sports medicine specialist had to come up with a plan when her childcare fell through ahead of an evening at work.

Megan Meier, from Oklahoma, US, was alone with her three-year-old as her husband was out of town, so she strapped her daughter to her back and went to work.

A photo was taken of Meier while she was working with a football player during the match and it has won praise on the internet.

“This woman is a sports medicine doctor and a team physician for most of the year,” Robin Schoenthaler, who was at the game, wrote on Facebook.

“She is 34 weeks pregnant, her husband is out of town, her childcare for her three-year-old fell through and she had a game to work.

“So she’s doing it.”

The post, shared on Sunday 4 September was shared more than 6,000 times in four days.

“Working mums are simply amazing,” one person wrote.

“What a mum will do for her kids and everybody else’s sometimes staggers the mind,” another person commented. “It trumps everything.”

Since the photo attracted attention on Facebook, Meiers took to her own page to comment on the “overwhelming response” she has received.

“I really believe that you can have it all and find a great balance to a multi-faceted career and life,” she wrote. “However, it takes a lot of hard work and improvisation at times.

“Most importantly, it takes a strong community of people supporting each other to make it work.

“I appreciate your support of women (and their families) in medicine and in sports. We have come a long way in 2016.”
