The World's Best Cocktail Bars Have Been Announced (And Nine Are In London)

Bottoms up 🍸

The world’s best cocktails bars have been announced and you won’t have to buy a plane ticket to visit some of them.

In the list of the 50 best bars around the world, a whopping nine are in London.

What’s more, five of those in the capital are in the top 10.

While The Dead Rabbit Grocery and Grog in New York stole the top spot, American Bar in The Savoy, London, came in a close second.

The judges said American Bar is a venue soaked in history, which continues to be relevant in 2016.

“Its 24-strong cocktail book is an ode to London, with cocktails divided into the capital’s boroughs and named after their famous and infamous landmarks,” they said.

“Abbey Road has become the bestseller, while Pickering Place – the last known site of a London gun duel – is most daring.”

Meanwhile Dandelyan in Mondrian Hotel, London, received the prize for third place.

The judges praised the hotel for teaming up with the “two most bonkers bartenders in the business” and creating futuristic drinks in a classy setting.

Connaught Bar in Mayfair came in fourth while The Gibson in Old Street came in sixth. The latter is famed for its unusual beverages, including unconventional ingredients such as vinegar and pickle.

The final London bar in the top 10 was Happiness Forgets in Hoxton, which the judges enjoyed for its “unstuffy vibe”.
