'X Factor' 2016: George Shelley 'In Talks' For 'Xtra Factor' Role

From talent show contestant to presenter.

George Shelley is the latest former 'X Factor' contestant to be linked with a presenting role on 'The Xtra Factor'.

The singer-turned-presenter - who first found fame on the ITV talent competition in 2012 as a member of Union J - is reportedly being lined up to join the team of the spin-off show when it returns to ITV2 later this year.

According the The Sun, bosses want George to be the social media correspondent on the revamped series, which they suggest will be fronted by Rochelle Humes and new co-host and 'X Factor' alumnus Rylan Clark-Neal.

Since finishing runner up on last year's 'I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!', George has quit Union J, and joined the presenting line-up on Capital Radio's Breakfast Show, where he has proven to be a hit with listeners.

Earlier this week, it was confirmed Sharon Osbourne, Nicole Scherzinger and Louis Walsh will be returning alongside Simon Cowell as this year's judges.

Dermot O'Leary is also making a comeback as the host, to replace last year's presenters Caroline Flack and Olly Murs.

Bosses are yet to confirm who will front 'The Xtra Factor' after it was hosted by Rochelle and Melvin Odoom in 2015, with Laura Whitmore, Roman Kemp and Westlife's Nicky Byrne also being linked to the job.

An announcement about the spin-off show is expected before auditions begin filming in Leicester next Friday (10 June).
