Dermot O’Leary was forced to issue an apology during Sunday (23 October) night’s ‘X Factor’, after Gifty Louise swore live on air.
The contestant was heard screaming an expletive as she learned Sam Lavery had made it through to next week.
“F***ing told you!” Gifty said to Sam.
Her outburst went unnoticed at the time of broadcast, and it was only after Dermot had finished revealing the fate of the other contestants that he apologised.
“You may have just heard some inappropriate language, we deeply apologise,” he told viewers.
“As you can imagine tensions are high.”
Gifty also survived the public vote, with Ryan Lawrie, Relley C and Four Of Diamonds landing in the bottom three.
With Ryan later saved by the lifeline vote, it was left for Relley and Four Of Diamonds to battle it out in the sing off.
Relley was eventually sent home, after three of the four judges opted to keep the girlband in the competition.
‘X Factor’ viewers were also up in arms over the Jukebox’s ‘random’ selection of Fright Night for next week’s theme, which just so happened to tie-in with Halloween.
‘The X Factor’ continues on Saturday at 8pm on ITV.
