Zakari Bennett: Man Charged With Murder After Death Of Baby Rescued From River

A man has been charged with murder following the death of a baby who was rescued from a river in Greater Manchester.

Zakari William Bennett-Eko – who was 11-months-old – died in hospital on Wednesday after being retrieved from the River Irwell in Radcliffe.

Police have now charged 22-year-old Zak Eko with murder.

In a statement, Greater Manchester Police said: “A man has been charged after a baby boy who was found in the River Irwell sadly died.

“Zak Eko (22/08/1997) has been charged with murder.”

Eko has been remanded in custody and will appear at Manchester Magistrates’ Court on Friday, police added.
