He had to jam his foot onto the animal's neck and hold it there until the cat quit thrashing and died. Colorado Parks and Wildlife officers retrieved the dead cat and Kauffman was taken to hospital.
Edinburgh Zoo welcomed their new tapir calf on 31 January. Born to mother Sayang and father Mowgli, he’s the eighth tapir calf to have been born at the zoo since 2007.
Plastic litter incidents affecting animals are at an all-time high, according to a report by the RSPCA. The animal welfare charity found a 22% increase in incidents, from 473 in 2015 to 579 in 2018. For seals, the increase has been fourfold in the same period.
