Elsewhere on the night, Billie Eilish was the International Female Solo Artist of the year, and performed her new James Bond theme.
Foals, Stormzy and Paloma Faith also ensured the imbalance was addressed during Tuesday's ceremony.
The singer's ex-girlfriend Paige Turley is currently one of the contestants on the ITV2 reality show.
Dave, Mabel, Harry Styles and Rod Stewart were among those who helped celebrate 40 years of the Brits.
The comedian took shots at everyone from the royals to Boris Johnson, even sending up his own presenting at one point.
However, rapper Dave walked away with the biggest prize of the night.
The rapper also hit out the media's treatment of Meghan Markle and called for "support for the Windrush generation" during his performance.
The US rapper made fun of the former home secretary over the Home Office stopping him entering the country in 2015.
