On his 100th birthday, Colonel Tom Moore was celebrated by the UK with a rendition of Happy Birthday. The army veteran has become a beacon of hope for the nation during the coronavirus pandemic by walking 100 laps of his garden for charity. So far his endeavour has raised over £32 million.
The World War II veteran celebrated his 100th birthday today, after raising almost £30m for the NHS by walking 100 laps of his back garden earlier this month. Captain Tom also scored a number one hit shortly afterwards. Today, as part of a Battle of Britain Memorial, a flyover of signature planes from the war were organised by the RAF to mark his birthday.
His duet with Michael Ball on You'll Never Walk Alone hit the top spot on Friday.
"Please support his single so this incredible 99-year-old war veteran can have a number one for his 100th birthday," he wrote.
