As everyone starts getting into the Christmas spirit, the Royal family will not be left behind. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge kicked off the festive season by hosting a Christmas party at Kensington Palace for RAF personnel and their families. Meanwhile, Buckingham Palace started decking the regal halls with the arrival of their Christmas trees.

They've only been up for five minutes, but the annual battle between cat and Christmas tree has already begun.

A German gold dealer has upped the Christmas decoration game by creating a tree made out of gold coins. The glittering pyramid is made out of 2,018 coins and is worth 2.3 million euros. It was made by Munich company Pro Aurum in co-operation with the Austrian Mint.
