UK police have questioned Anne Sacoolas over the accidental death of 19-year-old Harry Dunn and passed on details to the Crown Prosecution Service. The UK government are currently reviewing the rules which govern diplomatic immunity arrangements, which Sacoolas originally used to flee the UK.
Anne Sacoolas has asked to be interviewed by officers from Northamptonshire Police.
A spokesperson for Dunn's parents said the decision was 'further compounding the family's misery'.
The president said Boris Johnson had personally asked to set up a meeting between Dunn's parents and Anne Sacoolas.
Harry Dunn's parents said offer to meet US diplomat's wife at the White House felt like an "ambush".
Anne Sacoolas, who left the UK after the crash which killed teenager, was in the building as family met US President.
The 19-year-old was killed in a crash with US diplomat's wife Anne Sacoolas, who has used diplomatic immunity to return to America.
The teen's father, Tim, said: "They made a mistake, someone has made a mistake."
Dunn's mother and father pleaded for Anne Sacoolas to "get on the plane and get back to the UK, just do the right thing."
Meanwhile, the home secretary played down suggestions Sacoolas could be extradited from the United States.
