Jersey City, New Jersey

Concerned by the food insecurity in her area, Software Designer and Doula, Tatiana Smith, set up a community fridge on her own doorstep in Jersey City. The colourful fridge is stocked by Smith, local businesses and its own patrons. She invites anyone to "take what you need, leave what you can". It’s just one of a number of similar grassroots initiatives helping communities across the US.

Schools and shops across the city were put on lockdown.
