‘Stranger Things’ is a US sci-fi horror series airing on streaming service Netflix. Created, written, directed and co-executive produced by the Duffer Brothers, the series tells the story of the disappearance of a young boy amid supernatural events in the town of Hawkins, and the sudden appearance of a girl who uses her powers to help his friends try to find him. ‘Stranger Things’ stars Winona Ryder (Joyce Byers), David Harbour (Jim Hopper), Finn Wolfhard (Mike Wheeler), Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven), Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin Henderson), Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas Sinclair), Natalia Dyer (Nancy Wheeler), Charlie Heaton (Jonathan Byers), Cara Buono (Karen Wheeler), and Matthew Modine (Martin Brenner). Series one first aired in July 2016, to much critical acclaim, with a second series coming to Netflix in October 2017. It takes place around Halloween 1984, about a year after the events of the first season and features the return of the Demogorgon and The Upside Down.
