Members of the environmental activism group Greenpeace have blocked the entrance to oil-giant BP’s London headquarters with giant containers. They are demanding that the company switch to entirely to renewable energy and scrap exploration for new oil and gas. The protest comes on the heels of the Extinction Rebellion protests which blocked key areas in London for two weeks, also demanding that politicians and companies pay attention to the effects of climate change and environmental degradation. BP is hosting its annual general meeting on Tuesday in Aberdeen, Scotland.
“I know my class will make sure they pay this forward,” Robert Smith told 400 students.
It could be the first step to have him extradited from Britain.
At least 17 people have been injured after a roadside bomb detonated next to a bus carrying tourists.
