Extinction Rebellion

The environmental action group have continued their protests across the capital, this time targeting the financial centres of London. A line of protesters glued themselves to the entrance of the Stock Exchange while another group glued themselves to a commuter train in Canary Wharf station. Extinction Rebellion are calling on the government to act on climate change.
Protestors are 'swarming' the City of London on the final day of demonstrations, with XR members lying in the road.
“We would like to thank Londoners for opening their hearts and demonstrating their willingness to act on that truth."
But the government has refused to declare a national climate emergency.
Extinction Rebellion’s aims are laudable, but promoting them by seriously disrupting average people as they try to get on with enjoying their daily lives is unlikely to get many folk on their side.
"I don’t want some double-barrelled activist telling me that air travel is only to be used in emergencies."
I know lots of people don’t have the privilege of being able to risk arrest, but I’m proud to have participated in this massive expression of civil disobedience
The group hopes to negotiate with the Mayor of London and Metropolitan Police to agree specific areas where demonstrators can remain.
At least 750 people have been arrested since Monday, in what the Met called an "unprecedented" operation.
